Third Annual George Morris Excellence in Equitation Exhibition on Friday, March 26
The Third Annual George Morris Excellence in Equitation Exhibition will be held on Friday, March 26, in the International Arena at 4 p.m. at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival.
Rider Meeting is at 3 p.m. with course walk to follow. Please note a group picture will be taken at this time.
No Entry Fee - Open to Junior Members of the USEF only
Invitations are automatically extended to winners prior to March 25th of any 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival USEF Hunt Seat Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Talent Search or WIHS Overall, Hunter Phase and Jumper Phase equitation classes and the same classes at the Holiday and Horses Horse Show held on November 25-29, 2009. This final is open to Junior members only. The Judges panel will consist of 5 to 6 top horsemen designated by management, one of which will observe the schooling area and make a report to the panel prior to the start of Round II. This report may include any questionable practices or procedures by the riders from the time the horses enter the designated holding area and throughout the exhibition. This class will follow Jumper schooling rules as defined in the USEF Rulebook.
All horses must remain in the designated area under the supervision of the schooling judge and the paddock masters. Riders will be responsible for the management, warm up, and schooling of their own horses with the assistance of one groom. Trainers will not be allowed to enter the designated areas throughout the class. Competitors will be immediately eliminated for use of a cell phone or any contact between trainer and rider. The course walk and schooling will be the sole responsibility of the rider.
Round 1- To be scored over fences. The course may include gymnastics, trot fences, oxers, verticals and combinations. Open numerical scoring will be used. The course will be designated by the panel.
Round 2- Each rider chosen to return by the panel for the second round will ride a course designed by the judges. The course will be a minimum of 8 jumps with one simple change of lead and one flying change of lead.
Round 3- The top four (4) riders selected by the panel will return the same night, under the lights. All four will enter the International Arena leading their mounts, and the panel will designate which horse each will ride. This round may include tests 1-
19 as found in the USEF rule book.
Order of go: Will be established by draw at 5 p.m. the day before the exhibition.
Attire: Formal attire is required. Horses must show under traditional hunter tack.
Awards: Cooler & Ribbons for first through tenth place.
FTI WEF Equitation Championship: The Champion will be presented with a Championship Jacket and gifts.
Special Family Awards: Presented to the families of the Champion and Reserve Champion
Best Equitation Horse: To be awarded to the owner of the chosen horse by the judges.
Best Turned Out Horse: A Jacket will be awarded to the Groom of the Best Turned Out Horse.
Trainer Award: A trophy and a Championship Jacket will be presented to the designated Trainer of the Champion Rider.
Trainer Prize Money: $250, $150, $130, $120, $100, $90, $80, $80.
